now that was a goosebumps moment: my long-term artist Veronika Harcsa just got awarded with the Bartók Prize as 'Vocal Artist of the Year'. CONGRATULATIONS!
The Bartók Prize is given for the first time this year by the Hungarian State Classical Radio to classical and contemporary artists in eleven categories. Veronika Harcsa is the first to receive the prize in the 'Vocal Artist of the Year' category. The laudation mentions her frequent collaborations with classical artists, her work on merging jazz and contemporary music, and her relentless search for new ways of connecting through music, including her recent interactive concert program based on music therapy studies. The recipients include some of the most renown Hungarian artists such as Ivan Fischer, Tamas Vasary and the Hungarian Radio Orchestra.

Our focus for 2025 will be her newest project Schubert NOW!, which will be released on BMC Records in February 2025. It is the next step on her contemporary journey as a trained jazz singer, always seeking for another edge to play with. I've always adored her for being so unique, as a matter of fact I chased her after I first saw her live in Duo about ten years ago. Her development since then is astonishing - Veronika has the ability to catch her audience' attention and keep them focused, concentrated and holding breath from time to time. With the years, she has embraced the risk that she has always been taking and brought it to perfection.
You will be able to recognize Veronika's voice in the 'blink of a breath'. More infos about Schubert NOW! below. Here's their EPK.

Veronika Harcsa's Schubert NOW!
The new production of harpist Anastasia Razvalyaeva, singer Veronika Harcsa and composer Bálint Bolcsó translates Schubert's music into contemporary musical language. After their album Debussy NOW!, released in 2020 on BMC Records, which attracted international attention, the artists adapted the songs of another composer to their own instruments and language. Improvisations, timbres between classical and jazz vocal techniques, and live electronic effects further expand the infinite, sensual and eerily beautiful universe of Schubert's songs, while at the same time enhancing the expressive tools of the human voice, and the harp. The well-known, perennial songs are transformed into a truly contemporary spatial experience in the trio's performance. The album Schubert NOW! will be released in February 2025 on BMC Records.
