Sylvain Darrifourcq's Milesdavisquintetorchestra! is a brand-new thing.

Not only has the group (formerly a Trio called Milesdavisquintet! now a sextet) done some intense sound research - they also agreed to be used as guinea pigs for the D SYNCH research project (check out Clement Cannone & Thomas Wolf), hoping to produce data capable of increasing our knowledge of collective behavior. Mainly it's about copy and pasting - how much are we influenced by others, how much do we copy them to achieve what we are aiming for, such as harmony for example. And to be specific, is harmony possible if every protagonist in a band does their own thing, trying to fully delete the urge to pay attention what the other band members are doing? Here's what we have to offer:

- a concert of the Sextet
- a concert of the Sextet plus talk about the research
- a concert of the Sextet plus a screening of the documentary (25 minutes, in preparation)
- a combination of all three
- a concert of the Sextet - joined by one or two other musicians
The whole concert will premier at the terrific Sons d'Hiver Festival (which has also been a producer of the program) on 1st February. Maybe see any of you there? I for myself will surely not miss this.
